Privacy Policy

This policy details how Passport to Change processes information that is related to this website, our communication and chapter organizing activities.

Effective date: October 25, 2026

What this policy covers

This privacy policy covers any information collected by Passport to Change via our website passporttochange.org, via links to our emails, phone and other direct contacts, and social media activities managed by us, and activities we operate on behalf of Passport to Change.

Chapter organizers and campaign partners can maintain their own forms or lists. If the information is gathered independently by them, they will be responsible for making the procedures clear. A third-party form or service might even have its own privacy policy.

Information we may receive

Depending on how you interact with us, this may include, but is not limited to:

  • your name, email address, telephone number, campus affiliation, position or organization;
  • any communications you choose to send us, whether through messaging, feedback, petition replies, queries from chapters, or otherwise;
  • information you give during the process of registering for or attending one of our events using an external form; and
  • technical data your browser gives us upon accessing the site, including your IP address, browser type, the page you requested, and the time of the request, which our hosting provider records in standard server logs.

There is no requirement for a login or account dashboard on the website. If there is an email address or form, anything you send through the link goes directly to that person or entity.

Cookies, analytics, and tracking

Analytics, advertisements, tracking tools or tracking cookies are not used on this website, and users are not tracked across other websites.

Fonts used on the website come from Google Fonts. This means that when a page is opened, the browser requests the fonts from Google's servers, which obtain your IP and browser data. This data is governed by Google's privacy policy.

On some pages, the web page might just keep a small amount of data in your browser for the current session only, such as if the page has been unlocked. This data is not identifying and will be removed once you close the tab.

Since we do not monitor users on an ongoing basis or across multiple sites, the site does not modify its behavior based on a “Do Not Track” request from browsers.

Chapters, petitions, and campaigns

With the help of social media sites and other means of communication, Passport to Change can use these tools to communicate about the chapters as well as all of the organizing opportunities available through these chapters, which include initiatives, petitions, interest forms, events, and many more. The data that would be collected through these organizing opportunities would be collected and stored by Passport to Change, chapter organizers, or the platform hosting the form, depending on their setup.

In the event that information is provided to Passport to Change, such information can be used by us for developing chapters, coordinating organizing work, communicating about campaigns or events, answering inquiries, and comprehending participation. We do not sell petition or chapter information.

How we use information

This information can be used for these purposes:

  • responding to your questions, requests, and chapter queries;
  • organizing events, programs, mentoring, and community events;
  • informing you regarding the petition, campaign, chapter, or event you inquired about;
  • updating and securing the website; and
  • meeting any legal requirements or protecting the rights and safety of people or services.

We don't use a petition or chapter inquiry as automatic permission to put somebody on our general marketing mailing list. If there is an additional mailing list, then the correspondence needs to include its own opt-in and opt-out options.

When information may be shared

Information may be shared with individuals assisting us in running our initiative, responding to a request, coordinating a chapter, delivering a website or communications service, or processing a contribution. Information may also be disclosed when required by law or when reasonably necessary to protect individuals, systems, or the organization.

We have no control over how other sites operate in terms of privacy. Please read their policies carefully before providing any of your personal information to them.

Sensitive information

Do not put any sensitive personal information in a public comment, email, or form unless it specifies what it needs that kind of information for. This would include any information regarding health conditions, housing or foster care, immigration, bank or other financial account details, government ID numbers, or any information about someone else.

Passport to Change might inquire if you require accommodations in order to participate in a particular event or program, for example, accessibility, interpretation, or captioning. This information is collected solely for the purpose of arranging your request. Given that it could fall under the category of consumer health data under Washington State's “My Health My Data Act,” the way it is collected, used, and shared is detailed in a separate Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy. Chapter organizers and other groups that run their own forms are responsible for their own notices.

Children's privacy

This website is designed for the general public and is not targeted towards children under the age of 13. This website does not knowingly solicit personal data from children under the age of 13. If you think that a child has submitted data to us at Passport to Change, please contact us so that we can review and remove it.

The chapter or third-party group that organizes an additional form for the youth will be responsible for the additional requirements, notice, and consent required for the activity.

Retention and security

Information is retained only for the period necessary to fulfill the intended use for which it was collected, such as record-keeping purposes, dispute resolution, or meeting legal obligations. Different holding periods apply based on the program, chapter, form issuer, and communication process.

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to secure information, but no means of communication or storage is fully secure. Do not send sensitive information via regular email or a public contact form.

Privacy questions and requests

If you would like to inquire about the information Passport to Change has collected, seek corrections/deletion of your information, or report any privacy complaints or concerns or inquiries regarding a chapter event, please send an email to info@passporttochange.org. Please specify the particular initiative/form and provide sufficient detail for us to verify and locate the inquiry. If the inquiry involves an outside chapter/service, it may be necessary to direct your inquiry there. We aim to respond within 30 days.

Policy updates

However, we can update this privacy policy when we make any modifications to our website, service, or information practices. The date displayed at the top of this webpage will indicate the last time this privacy policy was modified. Material changes will be communicated through an appropriate channel when required.
